Freda was amazing.  She listened carefully to the clients' story and then, without being either technical or patronising, she gently explained the woman's cycle and the signs she should look out for that showed when she was at her most fertile.  After a long period of facing the spectre of infertility, this couple are now expecting their first baby!

We are now 20 weeks pregnant and the support from natural fertility matters was absolutely invaluable in getting us here.

I’d always had irregular and long cycles and I suspected that getting pregnant would be a problem in the future. 

Before I met Freda, I spoke to my GP about it who said that the NHS guidance for my age group (34 years old) is to wait another 3-4 years before they start to investigate the infertility issues. Or to try the IVF, which wasn’t an option for us.

When I started charting, we learned that most of my cycle was infertile with a very short fertile window.  We monitored my cycles for about 6 months and just when I was about to contact the fertility clinic about treatment we discovered that I was pregnant - our baby girl is due in 3 weeks time!

There’s a lot of information on the internet on how to chart temperature and mucus by yourself, however for me, the face to face sessions and an opportunity for Q&A gave me a confidence that the charting is done correctly and no time is wasted. It’s also great to know that if charting isn’t enough, there’s a further support from a team of professionals with the similar ethical outlook and a focus on finding the core of the problem.

My husband and I had been trying to conceive our second child for 2 years without any success. 

For ethical reasons, I wanted to try a more natural way of conceiving, but also wanted to find out why we were having difficulty in conceiving the 2nd time around.  There were so many unanswered questions which I found were answered by knowing my body better with the help of the wonderful Freda!

We had our first daughter 4 years ago, without any difficulties.  Over the past 2.5 years, we have tried to conceive a second child.  After a very frustrating process with NHS, severe male infertility was diagnosed and we were told that IVF would be the only solution to move forward.  

For ethical reasons refused the disposing of embryos and decided to explore alternative routes.

We were fortunate enough to be connected with a restorative fertility doctor who was both empathetic and extremely rigorous in her scientific approach to identify the roots of our issues.  For the first time, we had the impression to meet a true professional with long-standing experience.  As French nationals, it was also a great help to navigate the UK healthcare system.

The next steps were clear:

1. We both started to take food supplements. 

2. A varicocele was found, which could explain low fertility.  Surgery will take place in the next few months.

3. My wife started charting her cycle with Freda, who was incredibly supportive, positive, and a great pedagog when teaching the charting.

To our great surprise and while we had just initiated some of the treatments, my wife became pregnant! Our doctor and Freda were at this point very helpful, advising some progesterone support. 

We are extremely grateful to the clinic and Freda. We know how difficult it is to remain confident when affected by infertility and that other people stories may not help.  However, we have been told on numerous occasions we will not have another child without IVF and facts have disproved these opinions. 

Update in 2023: this couple now has 2 more children after their conception back in 2014.  The last 2 children were conceived after the surgery to correct the variocele.

My wife and I had been trying to conceive for a number of years.  

After over 6 months of going through the NHS, we were told that due to male infertility the only possible way to conceive was through IVF (ICSI).  When we told the doctor that for ethical reasons we would not participate in this, he was dumbfounded and said that we should reconsider, as there was no way we would become pregnant without ICSI.  It was a frustrating and eye-opening experience that there were no other alternative treatments for such a common situation.

About the same time, we started meeting with Freda.  Freda was incredibly helpful and generous with her time in guiding us through this process.  She helped us understand our monthly fertility cycle in a level of detail that was critical in achieving conception.  She was practical in her suggestions and natural in the delivery of the course material.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and has experience in a wide range of fertility situations. 

Three months later we conceived naturally.  We can not more highly recommend any couple having trouble conceiving to meet with Freda to explore how to overcome fertility issues.

We used natural fertility matters to successfully conceive the first time three years ago (born 2019 Jan) after multiple IVF failures and miscarriages and no help or guidance from the NHS. So, when my husband and I decided to try for a second child, we had no doubts about getting in touch with Freda and Dr Phil Boyle from Neo Fertility in Dublin. 

Freda is the kindest soul you can ever come across. She is patient, listens carefully and helps motivate throughout the fertility treatment. Along with Dr Phil Boyle, she makes an excellent team and makes the entire treatment process a breeze. They are always available over emails, and their professional yet friendly and positive guidance makes the whole process not daunting. 

The overall treatment process is very natural and helps fix the fertility issue rather than a band-aid approach. Freda is accommodating when it comes to charting and constantly guides through the process. Previously I used the physical chart. This time around, there was this effective mobile app that I was using to chart my cycle. Though sometimes, I missed Freda's handwritten notes that she would scribble on my charting. 

In a matter of months, I fell pregnant again and was being monitored by the team at Neo Fertility to make sure we deliver a healthy baby (due 2022 Jan). 

Together, Freda and Dr Phil Boyle make a great team, bring in a lot of positivity to the couples trying to conceive naturally, and always support you in this journey. May God bless them in this journey and make things easy for them and their teams.

On the recommendation of a friend, we went to Freda for lessons in charting my cycle in the run-up to our wedding (2012, aged 31).

She was clear, knowledgeable and helpful and I felt confident in how to chart my cycle going forward.

So many people along the way suggested IVF as the only or obvious option, and we did not want to go down this route.

After 18 months of struggling to conceive, I was introduced through a friend to Freda McMahon.  My husband and I had our first meeting with her having undergone numerous NHS fertility tests, being diagnosed with ‘unexplained infertility’.  We were quite strongly encouraged by the NHS to go down the IUI/IVF routes.  As we were relatively young (29 and 31), we felt frustrated by the lack of other options from the NHS, such as trying to find what the underlying cause of our infertility might be or alternative support to help us conceive naturally. We were so pleased to find that Natural Fertility Matters provided the support and direction we were after, which turned out to be way beyond what the NHS and other private doctors we met could provide.

Freda introduced me to Dr Boyle at Neo Fertility who she works closely with, and who prescribed me with a medical plan to investigate my infertility and help me conceive naturally.  I might have been quite overwhelmed with Dr Boyle’s programme without Freda, who held my hand throughout the journey and was amazing at being attentive to me whenever I had questions, worries or updates. Her approach was holistic - she even did a marriage session with me and my husband to help support our marriage through the fertility struggle. 

We conceived for the first time after having been with Neo Fertility for just over a year.  

I am now 15 weeks into a healthy pregnancy (ETA early autumn 2022).  We are so grateful that we were introduced to Freda and would highly recommend her to anyone struggling with fertility.
