What is Restorative Reproductive Medicine?

Over the last few decades, reproductive medicine has changed in two very different ways.

Restorative Reproductive Medicine, or RRM, is a more natural approach to reproductive medicine.  It includes any scientific approach to reproductive medicine that looks to work alongside with or restore the normal function of the reproductive system.

How does Restorative Reproductive Medicine work?

The main purpose of RRM is to identify the root cause of any issues, and then to resolve it and restore balance to the reproductive system. 

RRM uses fertility tracking, or charting, to observe the function of the reproductive system.  By looking at mucus production and bleeding patterns, various reproductive phases and any abnormalities can be found. 

These can then be confirmed through medical tests such as ultrasounds and blood tests. It is also quite common to screen for conditions such as PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, and endometriosis at this stage.

Next, a tailored treatment plan can then be created to start resolving some of the abnormalities found.  Personalised doses of the appropriate ovulation medication or hormones may be given, alongside other supportive therapies.  The goal is to reach a normal fertility chart with optimal hormonal functions. 

Most importantly, the idea behind RRM is to work with couples to identify underlying fertility issues and then approach them in a holistic and specific way that works with their unique circumstances.
